Back again! One of the top guides and long-time employee of Farewell Harbor, Chris is excited to be back for his 5th season. Guiding since the young age of 19 Chris has had ten years experience guiding the coast of British Columbia. A wealth of fishing experience and knowledge, Chris is an easy-going, well-humored individual with a knack for catching the big ones! Ask him why he loves working for Farewell and he will tell you: “Out of all the top fishing destinations I’ve been to nothing beats the consistency and excitement of fishing these waters. This is the only place in the world that houses easy accessibility, spectacular scenery and wildlife, and world class fishing.” When he’s not guiding, Chris teaches High School at Edward Milne Secondary in Victoria. He loves his job and admits that over the years some of his most memorable moments have been at Farewell.
Tanya joins us as our new Lodge Manager this year, after living in Banff Alberta for the last twenty working for Canadian Mountain Holidays (CMH Heli-Skiing). Her experience in the Hospitality/Tourism Industry is vast, from House Manager at the Bugaboo and Adamant Lodges to working in the Operations and the Hospitality departments at CMH. A self proclaimed “Island Girl” at heart, she was born and raised in Campbell River on Vancouver Island and comes from a long line of angling enthusiasts. We are very lucky to have Tanya as her bright, caring personality will bring a new energy to Farewell Harbour.
This season we welcome Randy to the team! Raised on Vancouver Island with fishing and boating always within a short distance, Randy has fond memories of strip casting for Coho inside Georgia Straight. For the last twelve years he has been guiding on the west coast of Vancouver Island, out of Kyuquot. One year was also spent guiding in the Queen Charlottes. Each year in the fall his favorite fishing occurs; saltwater fly fishing from the beach for Pinks and Coho. In Randy’s book, quality of the fishing experience is more important than the quantity of fish caught. During the year he teaches Robotics and Electronics at High School in Courtenay, allowing him the ability to fish guide every summer, something he loves to do.
