Marine Discoveries

Join us for our exclusive lodge based whale watching packages in an in-depth exploration of famed Johnstone Strait and Blackfish Sound in the company of our experienced marine guides.

Fast currents and large tide ranges bring abundant nutrients to the waters of the Broughton Archipelago. These nutrients feed a spectacular web of life featuring Orca and Humpback whales, dolphins, porpoises, sea lions and a myriad of other marine creatures. Join us for marine safari into the heart of one of the most biologically active marine regions on the planet!

Available June 1 - July 5

This program is exclusively designed for whale and marine enthusiasts! Meet your guides at the Alder Bay RV Park & Marina at noon on Day 1. Hop aboard and head to the lodge for lunch, orientation, and a quick unpack in your rooms before we head back out for an afternoon of marine adventure in search of whales, dolphins, sea lions, eagles and other wildlife in Blackfish Sound and Johnstone Strait in the famed Broughton Archipelago. In the evening, after supper, enjoy an evening lecture on some aspect of the local coastal ecology or history.

Day 2 has you off on a morning marine adventure back on local waters for more time with these wondrous animals. The Humpbacks are active and if we are lucky we may see Biggs, or Transient marine mammal eating, Orca. We also go in search of the Stellar Sea Lions, Pacific White Sided Dolphins and Dall's Porpoise. All this while taking in the breathtaking scenery of the region. In the company of an experienced wildlife guide you will learn more about the biology and behaviour of the wildlife around you.

We have guests back in Alder Bay by noon for ongoing connections.
